It’s time for another #HealthyishHappyHour, and we’re celebrating simply- with a White Wine Sangria of sorts. There’s no added sugar, unless you count the cakes!
Grab your best gal pal, your furry friend (one in the same in my case, love you Julep!) or your significant other, and head to the deck, patio, or garden because it’s #HealthyishHappyHour time!
Just get your butts outside to soak up the best of summer evenings with something sweet and something saucy, ie: this Healthyish take on White Wine Sangria.
White Wine Sangria
Sangria is a bit of a stretch here. We’re simplifying and we’re not sweetening because we save our sugar for our cakes. This pitcher of White Wine Sangria is really just nectarine, plum and lemon thyme infused white wine. It’s not traditional “sangria,” but we don’t foresee any complaints.
Healthyish Cake Pairings
When it comes to Healthyish cake pairings, we recommend Tangy Lemon and Mellow Yellow cake bases. Top them generously with organic vanilla bean frosting, fresh plums and organic white chocolate chunks. Or, nectarine slices, fresh thyme and a hit of fresh crushed black pepper if you like to ride that line of sweet and savory.
Be sure to have extra white wine on hand to refill your pitcher, and then you can call dibs on who gets the jackpot- all that boozy fruit at the end of the happy hour.
The beauty of this White Wine Sangria, or Fruit Infused Wine, is the flexibility. Lemon thyme or regular thyme pair well with nectarines, but you can also experiment with other herbs, especially if you grow them yourself. Try fresh basil or mint, or a combination of both. Throw in some berries for a sweeter sip. If you want to sip long into the evening, plan on a batch of Frosé too.
Remember to tag your happy hours with #HealthyishHappyHour, so we can salute you in the digital realm and put the social back in social media.
